Setup
Does SheetLink Forms slow down my site?
No. The plugin is lightweight and only activates during form submission events. It adds no frontend scripts, no external API calls on page load, and no background polling. Delivery happens server-side after submission.
How does data get into Google Sheets?
With the one-click connection (v1.12.0+), your WordPress server writes rows directly to the Google Sheets API. With the classic method, it posts to a Google Apps Script webhook URL you deploy yourself. Either way the data goes straight from your server to Google - no middleman service, no third-party relay, no per-submission metering.
Do I need to set up Google Apps Script?
Not anymore. Since v1.12.0 you can connect Google Sheets in one click: sign in with Google and pick or create a spreadsheet in the Google file picker - no code, about a minute. The classic Apps Script route is still fully supported if you prefer a self-hosted webhook: we provide a ready-to-use template and step-by-step instructions (about 5 minutes).
Does the plugin call home to verify my license?
Only when you choose to use licensed features. Pasting a license key on the SheetLink → License page sends the key + your site's domain to sheetlinkwp.com/api/sheetlinkwp/verify one time, then the plugin re-checks entitlements every 12 hours. The key activates the separate SheetLink Pro plugin and the hosted services (AI Lead Scoring, the Lead Inbox portal). No form submissions, no user accounts, no site content are ever transmitted - just the license token and site domain. The free plugin on WordPress.org (form delivery, retry queue, logs, UTM capture, conditional routing, GDPR tools, local analytics, smart mapping, and setup wizard) contains no licensed features and never contacts our servers.
Licensing
Do I still need Zapier or Make?
No. SheetLink Forms replaces Zapier/Make for the specific workflow of sending WordPress form submissions to Google Sheets. You save the recurring fees and remove the per-task limits those services impose.
Are there submission limits?
SheetLink Forms does not impose any per-submission limits. Google Sheets and Apps Script have their own quotas (generous for most use cases), but the plugin itself does not meter or throttle your submissions.
Can I use SheetLink on client sites?
Absolutely. The Agency tier (25 sites) and Enterprise tier (100 sites) are designed for exactly this. Each license activation covers one WordPress installation. Activate on client sites, your own sites, or any mix.
What is the difference between Free and the paid tiers?
Free covers form-to-Sheets delivery, conditional routing, the retry queue, UTM capture and delivery logs, for all twelve form plugins. Pro adds Two-Way Sync, WooCommerce Sync, Multi-Destination Routing and five more form builders. Agency adds White-Label, Branded Reports and the Agency Dashboard. The optional AI Pack adds AI Lead Scoring, AI Analytics, Multi-CRM Routing and Primary Destinations.
How do I manage my subscription?
Log into your SheetLinkWP account at sheetlinkwp.com/account. From there you can view your license, activated sites, current plan, and manage your subscription. Subscription changes take effect immediately.
Reliability
What happens if Google's API is down?
SheetLink's zero-drop retry queue catches the failure, caches the submission locally, and retries delivery with exponential backoff - after 5 minutes, then 30 minutes, then 2 hours - up to 3 times. If all retries fail, the submission is flagged for manual retry. Data is preserved for manual retry.
Is form data sent through your servers?
For core WP-to-Sheets delivery, no. Data goes directly from your WordPress server to Google's servers - through the Google Sheets API on one-click connections, or through your own Apps Script on the classic method. The one-click sign-in uses our OAuth service to establish the connection, but the token is stored encrypted on your own site and submission payloads never pass through us. The AI Pack (AI Lead Scoring, AI Analytics, Multi-CRM Routing) processes data through our backend for the specific feature function, and those are clearly documented.
Features
How does conditional routing work?
You define rules based on form field values using operators like equals, contains, starts with, greater than, and more. When a submission matches a rule, it routes to a specific Sheet tab or webhook URL. You can set up to 10 rules per mapping with fallback behavior.
Branding
Why is the plugin called SheetLink Forms?
WordPress.org naming guidelines require plugin slugs to be distinct and descriptive, so the official plugin is published as 'SheetLink Forms' at wordpress.org/plugins/sheetlink-forms. SheetLinkWP is the primary brand and website. They are the same product - same team, same codebase, same support. Learn more about the two names.
